On December 1st , 2023, Etobicoke Climate Action, in collaboration with Kairos Toronto West and Etobicoke EcuLinks, sponsored a Public Forum on Climate Change at Bloordale United Church on Bloor Street W. The Forum was pulled together by a planning group of five volunteers representing all three sponsoring organizations, and included the following special guests:
Featured speakers
• Yvan Baker, M.P., Etobicoke Centre
• James Maloney, M.P., Etobicoke-Lakeshore
• Amber Morley, Councillor, Etobicoke-Lakeshore
• How-Sen Chong, Toronto Environmental Alliance
The topic was the urgent reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions through the
buildings and transportation sectors, and about 50 people attended.
We heard about the topic in general, and then heard from the four speakers in turn, who
then engaged one another in a bit of a dialogue before responding to questions from the
audience.
This was the first of what ECA hopes is a series of planned Forums on Climate Change, and those in attendance were invited to inform us of suggested topics they would like to see covered in future Forums.
The ECA appreciates the collaboration that took place, and that those who attended were
so engaged in expressing their concerns about climate change and GHG emissions
reduction.
If you have suggestions for new Forums or would like to help us plan more, please let us know. We always need new and passionate leadership to help pull events like this together. Email us at info@etobicokeclimateaction.ca to let us know of your interest or any questions you may have.
